Our values

DEVOTION TO PRAYER AND SCRIPTURE

We desire for people to, above all else, seek the Lord and abide in His presence (John 15). To love and worship Him. We are called to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37) and too often we fall in love with sermons, worship bands, books, and gifted communicators instead. We believe that a deep love for Christ is cultivated by daily communion with Him through prayer and the reading of His word, and we seek to point people back to this truth again and again.

SPREADING THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Making disciples isn’t something set aside for church leaders or full-time missionaries, Christ has commissioned each of us for this work.

Our aim is that as people live lives fully surrendered to Christ, they become more and more like Him — making disciples and growing His kingdom. We want everyone to become fully equipped and confident in their roles as disciple-makers, and our leaders are in place to encourage them to display a supernatural God to a natural world (Acts 1:8).

DEDICATION TO ONE ANOTHER AS FAMILY

The bible says that we will be known by our love for one another (John 13:35) and that our fellow believers should be closer to us than even our own families (Matthew 12:46). We desire to be a community of believers marked by this supernatural love for one another. We want to have meals together, pray together, and be actively involved in each other’s lives.

CHRIST AS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH

Too often we have more allegiance to where we go to church or to our favorite pastor than we do to Christ himself. In 1 Corinthians 1, Paul addresses the early church undergoing a similar problem:

“One of you says, ‘I follow Paul;’ another, ‘I follow Apollos;’ another, ‘I follow Cephas;’ still another, ‘I follow Christ.’ Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?”

Our desire is to see unity break out amongst believers as we pledge our allegiance first and foremost to Christ as the head of the church rather than to any one person or church name.

EVERYONE PARTICIPATING

The church is meant to be a functioning body where every member’s contribution is vital (1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4). For this reason, we purposefully keep our churches small (around 20 people). We want to cultivate an environment where all are able and encouraged to contribute their unique giftings given by the Holy Spirit to build up the body.
